a cute lil' tiny suitcase...

I grabbed this cute lil' suitcase...

actually it was a cassette case...

as soon as my eyes fell on it!

I couldn't believe it!

Look at the inside...

which I simply... 

(actually it was a wee bit difficult...)

took out!

[I saved the cassette holders for ??? who knows?]

Guess what fits in it perfectly?

I always needed a place to put these!

So now it sits on my table...

 

Next to my spring re-vamped tray...

 If you look closely, you'll see a little tiny wood birdhouse,

hanging above the candle...

My Daddy carved that... years ago, before I was born.

He loved wood, was in fact, a master carpenter!

He whittled while he was in the Korean War.

And this is my very own little tiny keepsake from him!

[and yes, it's all done from ONE piece of wood!]

My new 'CD case' sits on the table next to the tray...

under my re-vamped spring mantelshelf!

 Yes, I am loving white.

With little spots of color.

(I need to add photos to the two empty frames... i know, i know...)

I found the teal colored (oh, what is it called???)

it's a lightpost something... -sigh-

...at the local St. Vincent's, one of two of my favorite stores!

 

My darling daughter threaded the buttons for me on some jute...

  I painted the frame... it was a dark wood...

and distressed it a bit.

The picture is one of my all-time favs...

it's of myself, my hubby, and my 'baby'...my youngest son.

LOVE the photo!

We are on a trail in Oregon, near Mt. Hood,

where the Cedar trees are so giant,

that you could have small room in them!

Yes, one can have too much fun, huh?

the STOOL

I HAD to share this with you!

It was SO EASY

and SO FUN.

And did not require ANY fancy 'machinery'!

I didn't take a BEFORE photo of the STOOL.

But I had it for YEARS.

Unfinished.

Actually it had a coat of very dirty looking paint on the top ONLY.

It was in the bathroom, for my kiddos to reach the sink.

For some reason, I finally really SAW it.

And I had some cool RED spray paint that I'd had for awhile now...

I cleaned it up,

and sprayed three coats of paint on it.

I love Funky Junk Donna's lettering projects...

they are fabulous!

But I don't own a cricut or have access to a fancy die cutting machine.

All I have is my trusty computer!

So I went into PUBLISHER

found a font that I loved the best for THIS project...

made it FIT in the space I needed...

changed it to OUTLINE and printed it on paper...

hand cut out the letters...

to create a STENCIL

and used some 'old' QUILT BASTING SPRAY that I already had,

to temporarily adhere the paper to the painted wood!

It WORKED!

So VOILA!

Here's the STOOL!

I put this cute stool beneath a cute little fun SPOT for the kiddos.
I found the dry erase board for 50cents...
cleaned it up...
and Terry had already painted a leftover board with chalkboard paint...

the chalkboard has a strip of sticky back velcro on it, 
with the 'matching' velcro pieces stuck on the pens!
So there's a place for everything!

I think they'll like it...

'Crazy spring cleaning day'...

a NEW LOOKING room!

A few posts back I showed you the START of my...

'new room'.

Seems I'm always changing something...

but it's been 'gettin' to me' for awhile now,

as it was so utilitarian.

B O R I N G

It all started with the desk which I shared already.

(you can click on the word, to go back to that post!)

Now, I'll share the rest of the ROOM.

Remember this?

I'm talking the BUFFET in the dining room!

(yeah, that I put there not too long ago...)

and this:

 The desk with the hutch (I think it was $5 find) on top!

Well, I had to repaint the hutch...

which I did in a day...

and I combined the TWO!

So instead of the utilitarian lined up books...

I had some FUN!

i love scrapbooking, and my books!

and:

...quilting, and my books!

and:

my favorite tole painting books!

You see the candle with the cute little baby boy?

My friend Jodi made that... and I LOVE it!

The cute little baby boy, is my grandson, who is now 8!

I either gave away, or SOLD a BUNCH of books.

I had to LET GO.  You know, sometimes one just has too much???

Then I moved several things around to NEW places.

The ribbon shelf went above my 'new' desk:

If you don't already know...

the containers are the 'old' mayonnaise containers, which I LOVE!

To the right, you see the button shelf...

which I screwed to a board, that fits on top of the file cabinet,

so that the buttons HIDE the ugly computer box!

I changed the closet from having these hanging:

(which i hated) 

to this:

I still have to take 'em all out... -sigh-

So, in a nutshell,

it went from a DISASTER that month:

I actually did even more,

(not necessarily to THIS room, but...)

on my... ummm...

Good morning Easter!

good morning my friends!

Yes, it's Easter morning.

Our celebration of the morning Jesus rose from the tomb.

And a celebration of OUR resurrection someday!

I wanted to share with you a few photos,

and a little sweet story.

Two years ago, this was what we saw out our window on Easter Morning!

 Yes, this was when we were still in Oregon.

Before we sold our beloved house.

We miss our house...

but the COLD and gray???

not

Here's our deck...

(remember, this is Easter morning... you know, spring?)

 -sigh-

...now fast forward to TODAY.

Here it is outside our door, this beautiful Easter Morning.

Blue blue skies.

Perfect weather.

Green on the trees, that were naked just a few weeks ago!

and...

...theres a birdie living in the birdhouse!

Wonder what surprises she will bring us?

Now, for my story.

This is from last April, around Easter time.

Terry is always finding little critters...

and rescuing them.

This time he was walking outside, and this little bunny, 

hopped, no... more like hobbled, wiggled, and fell... right  onto him!

Terry saw immediately that he was WAY to little to be away from his mommy.

 This little bunny, was the sweetest of all.

So trusting.

So wanting warmth and love.

He couldn't hop straight, due to malformed little feet.

He couldn't hardly see much, due to his eyes not being clear.

His little nose, was a wee bit off.

Poor little sweet baby.

We introduced him to Billy Bob

 

Who immediately took a liking [loving?] to Bunnie.

Billy Bob never ever made a naughty move to Bunnie.

He was just curious and cautious.

First, Bunnie needed a nice warm HOME.

He was so tiny, what could we use?

Why a shoe!

  ...and Bunnie took an immediate liking to his new little home.

Warm and cozy it was.

He lived in our room... with Billy Bob.

Billy Bob never left him...

was always there when Bunnie woke up.

 Billy Bob reassured us that he was not going to hurt Bunnie.

He was soft and sweet.

We put Bunnie on the bed... so he could be safe and warm,

and so we could keep an eye on him.

He would flop, jump, tip, and wiggle.

Trying to move the very best he could.

 

While Billy Bob kept a close watchful eye on him.

Look! You can see Bunnie's cute little cottontail.

 OH, Bunnie was such a little angel.

And what tenderness Billy Bob showed to God's little creature.

 Billy Bob kept watch over Bunnie...

every moment of the few days he spent with us.

Little Bunnie was getting tired.

He liked being kept warm and very very cozy.

We like to think that little Bunnie was telling Billy Bob

that he was going to be OK.

  Billy Bob still stayed right by Bunnies side.

Bunnie tried valiantly to grow and live.

Bunnie had a hard time eating and drinking.

He really needed his mommy.

So he was slowly getting weaker and tired.

 Billy Bob did the very best he could

to love and care for this little bunny.

He even tried to keep him warm and cozy.

But on the third morning

little Bunnie

went to live with God in heaven,

which is where he belongs.

Even though his life was short

it had meaning.  

He meant a lot to us, and he touched us in a special way.

We miss him.

Yes, we LOVE all of God's creatures

great and small.

Happy Easter

...and ALL of it's meaning there.

What the heck have I been doing???

WOW!

I have been busy.

It all started when I decided...

all of a sudden to SELL my desk!

This one:

 I labored over this almost two years ago,

and posted about it.

(if you want to check it out, go to THIS.)

Scroll down a wee bit, and it shows you HOW I did it!

So, within a few days, I told Terry...

and he's like 'WHY???'

hmmm...

It just took up too much room in the ROOM!

And I was tired of it!

So... I went to Craig's List to check out prices, 

and lo and behold, there was someone LOOKING for a LARGE DESKTOP desk!

Can you believe it???

I couldn't!

So I emailed him, sent him photos of the desk.

And the NEXT day, it was GONE!

WOW!

(now, before I did any of this, FIRST, I unloaded the desk!)

THEN, I looked for another desk, and luckily, there was one!

And it was half what I got for mine!

I emailed the guy... told him I wanted it...

it was WOOD.

Looked cool in the photo, so I was really crossing my fingers.

It took about a WEEK to hook up with the guy, due to my/Terry's/his work schedules.

So, because he lived a ways away, we hooked up in Sierra Vista

when he had a job here!

In a parking lot!

So, after work, and with Terry... and his truck...

we met in the parking lot, and saw the desk.

My breath was bated... I just wasn't SURE.

But ... 'cause I am a WIMP, mind you..

this guy had gone to a bit of trouble... to meet us...

I took it!

When I got home, and check it out...

oh man...

I LOVED it!

It was WOOD... with WOOD drawer runners and all.

I couldn't believe it.

Here it is: BEFORE:

It was in SUCH good shape!

Did I want it dark wood???

Heck no!

So, began the job of painting it.

I did it ALL in ONE DAY.

(and man, was I tired!)

First I lightly sanded it with an electric sander.

Then... I sprayed white PRIMER.

Then white Matte (spray) paint.

It took about 5 cans!

Then I sanded it, with the electric sander.

Then I (spray again) varnished it.

And HERE it is!

 I left the top as it was.  It was in pretty good shape.

The shape reminds me of my Dad's desk...

LOTS of neat drawers...

the one on the left bottom (two) is a file drawer.

Here you can see the top a bit.  It is beautiful to ME!

Don't you LOVE the distressing???

The handles and knobs...
The knobs are the SAME ones,

For the handles I bought CHEAP ones... that were GOLD.

ugh

Spray painted 'em all MATTE BLACK.

 She's quite lovely, huh?

This is a 'short' post,

I have TONS more to share.

But I MUST serve and eat DINNER.

My hubby is waiting...
